The right padlock color for good use
Our lockout/tagout experts and locksmiths advise you on the right padlock to use based on your work environment. Additionally, we take complete charge of managing your keying system, ensuring your peace of mind.
Rouge
Group/Multiple Lockout Padlocks
The red padlock identifies a padlock that is attached directly to equipment. If this padlock is misused, the risk of incidents is high. We have also developed an alphanumeric coding system to maximize worker safety: based on the station where the series is stored, in which box, etc.
Orange
Control/Department/Communication Padlocks
Used by managers trained in company lockout/tagout, orange color was chosen as it represents a moderately high risk if misused. It is used when supervising a lockout/tagout. A coding system is also suggested depending on the department. These padlocks come with control tags.
Jaune
Borrowing Padlock
This type of safety padlock is generally used by subcontractors and workers external to your company. They must have completed lockout/tagout training to use your company’s borrowing padlocks. We therefore consider a moderate-low risk level for the use of these padlocks. We also suggest using our coding to standardize your internal and multi-site processes.
Vert
Personal Padlock
Each worker trained in your company’s lockout/tagout rules has their own unique personal padlock. This represents the worker’s life during lockout/tagout procedures. It’s possible to engrave the worker’s name, company logo, employee number, and print the worker’s photo on one side of the personal padlock.
Keyed Alike
One key is used to open the series or group padlocks. If the series has four locks, there will be only one key for all four locks.
Master Keyed Different
Each padlock has its own unique key, however there is a master key that can still open each of these group padlocks.
Master Keyed Alike
The two red padlocks have a unique key that opens them, as do the two blue padlocks. Even though the red and blue padlocks don’t have the same key, the master key can open all four padlocks.
Master Keyed Different and Keyed Alike
The red and green padlocks each open with their own unique key. The two blue padlocks open with a single key for both padlocks. The master key will open the red padlock, the green one, and both blue ones. It is assigned to this specific group of padlocks.
